How do study Discord servers work?

You join a voice channel and work while others do the same, usually muted. Some run timed pomodoro sessions; others leave the rooms open all day.

For a lot of people, yes — being visibly not-alone while working is the mechanism. It costs nothing to sit in a room for an hour and find out.

About study communities

Study servers are unusual in that the main activity is silence. People sit in a voice channel with cameras off and work, and the presence of other people doing the same is what makes it effective. It is body-doubling with a Discord client.
